Too Good To Go - Review

Countless delicious food is wasted daily at hotels, restaurants, shops and cafes. It is estimated that more than a third of all food is wasted.
What is Too Good To Go?
Too Good To Go is another organisation created to help combat this problem. Its mission is to ensure food never goes to waste. Through an app, customers can purchase food directly from businesses at massively reduced prices, with the catch being the food is either going out of date or is surplus food from the day's cooking.
This model provides a win-win for customers who obtain cheaper food whilst helping businesses garner what would ordinarily be wholly lost revenue.
We recently gave the app a go and were surprised at how simple, easy and convenient it was.

Marks & Spencers Food at BP Garage

Our first purchase via the Too Good To Go app, we tried the magic bag for £4. As it was our first go, we didn't quite know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the contents. We were offered something savoury and sweet. However, due to all products having a use by date of that date, it was hard to make a suitable meal for two people using the limited choice.
We rated this 4/5 on the app, however in hindsight our experiences at alternative food businesses have offered much better value. We suggest when purchasing magic bags, if you are hoping to feed 2-3 people, expect to have to purchase something within the store to go along with what you are given in the bag.
Pros
You can get a meal for 2/3 people for as little as £2.70
You rate food businesses, so if they don't offer good value or quality, this will show in their rating.
Cons
Hit & Miss Magic Bags - you don't always know what you are getting, which could sometimes result in disappointment.
Offers are available at less desired times of the day. Although for shift workers or late eaters, this could be an excellent option for a cheap hot meal.
Food businesses may cancel at the last minute if there is no surplus food for that day.
Overall
This app could be a great option if you are more relaxed about what you want to eat and your primary goal is to reduce food costs. It's also an excellent option for people on a low income who want a hot meal whilst saving on the energy costs of cooking.
We love the app and the mission of this business. That's why we give it an 8 / 10.
